Artist made paper stands in the shape of bird species found in Japan. With a particular Japanese sense in their designs, these stands are carved from wood and hand painted. The seven species represented are the Snow Bunting, Goldcrests, the Great Spotted Woodpecker, the Tufted Penguin, Kingfishers and Crested Kingfishers, and the Blakiston’s Fish Owl. This final species: the Blakiston’s Fish Owl, is a particular focus of the Wild Bird Society of Japan’s conservation work. Reduced to around 140 birds on the northern island of Hokkaido, proceeds from all WBSJ products sold help to support protection of the species.
Handy and appealing, these artistic representations of birds help the WBSJ support the real thing.
Made by a workshop in Nagano, Japan from wood, each stand is about 5cm high.
